Here you will find detailed guidance on how to properly use the B Corp intellectual property (IP) and logo. It’s important to follow these guidelines carefully, in order to help us maintain consistency with how B Corp certification is recognized globally.
Intellectual Property (IP)
B Lab’s IP includes both the B Corp logo and written terms (such as “Certified B Corporation™”, “B Corporation™”, and “B Corp™”). Only Certified B Corps are licensed to use this IP to communicate their certification, in a manner consistent with the following guidelines. If you have any doubts regarding IP usage, please contact brand@bcorporation.net
Trademarks
The trademark (™) symbol is required as applicable, after the first use of the following phrases in either body copy or headlines.

Logo
B Corp Certification is a company certification, not a product one. When you display the B Corp logo or make any claims about certification, it should be clear that it relates to your company.
The B Corp logo has five elements that should always be used together:
“Circle B” mark
The holding line (bar)
The “Certified” text
The “Corporation” text
The registered symbol (®)
Always maintain the minimum clear space around the logo.
The B Corp logo can be used on product packaging and other materials by certified companies and their approved in-scope brands. Guidance on how to use the B Corp logo can be found in the Logo application section. For special cases, including co-branding and brands of certified parent companies, please refer to the additional guidelines in the Eligibility rules for IP usage section.

Logo application
Updated 2026
In this section, you will find the application guidelines for certified companies to follow when applying the B Corp logo to digital, print and physical, and video and moving image formats.
Requirements
B Corp Certification is a company certification, not a product one. When you display the B Corp logo on product packaging or other materials, you must make it clear to the consumer that it relates to your company.
The B Corp logo must direct to bcorp.com, via a hyperlink or text with a URL (“Learn more at bcorp.com”), which will allow the consumer to search for your brand in the B Corp directory and learn more about your certification.
If you are a parent company that manages multiple brands, all brands that are part of the approved scope of your certification must be listed on your directory profile. Only these brands may use the logo. More information on how brands can use the B Corp IP can be found in the Eligibility rules for brand IP section.
You are responsible for how you use the B Corp logo, and for ensuring that you comply at all times with laws and requirements relating to sustainability statements. The following guidelines do not constitute legal advice, or an approval of each use of the B Corp logo.
Why add a URL?
Changing industry practice and legislation, including Europe’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition directive, requires sustainability labels such as the B Corp logo to be substantiated, and to clearly communicate their criteria and credentials to consumers.
We are achieving this through the inclusion of the URL with every use of the B Corp logo, directing consumers to our website where this information will be clearly displayed. Updates to the B Corp directory and homepage will be live by August 2026.
Illustrative examples
The way in which you use the logo and required URL will vary depending on the type of material. Please see the illustrative examples below for further information about how you can approach different use cases.
Digital usage (e.g., websites or digital communications)
Hyperlink the B Corp logo to the company’s B Corp directory profile on bcorp.com, OR include text with the URL (“Learn more at bcorp.com”)
The B Corp logo should only be used if the digital layout is clearly branded with the certified company’s logo or name
Sizing
To ensure legibility of the B Corp logo, we recommend a minimum size of 50 pixels high for web banners and email headers, and 72 pixels high for web pages.
Print and physical usage (e.g., packaging, signage, and printed materials)
Include the text “Learn more at bcorp.com” alongside the B Corp logo to direct consumers to further details about the certification
Position the B Corp logo in close proximity to the certified company’s logo or name
Visual examples of the URL options

Example of one color URL badge
Example of URL badge with custom color background. B Corps can customize the background color to match their brand palette
Sizing
The minimum logo size for small packaging and print is a 6mm logo width. Any smaller than this, and the logo text becomes illegible when printed. The required accompanying text at this size is a minimum of 5pt based on the Helvetica Neue font, but this could vary with other font choices. For larger packaging, we recommend a logo size of at least 8mm width or in a proportional size to the certified company’s logo.
Positioning
Example of the B Corp logo placed side-by-side with certified company logo
Example of the B Corp logo placed on the same side of pack near the certified company logo/name
Example of the B Corp logo positioned next to the certified company name in small print
Video and moving image usage (e.g., adverts, animation, and film)
Include the text “Learn more at bcorp.com” alongside the B Corp logo to direct consumers to further details about the certification
Place the B Corp logo in the same frame or animated in a sequence straight after the certified company’s logo or name
If animating the B Corp logo, make sure all elements of the logo are kept intact
Sizing and positioning
The B Corp logo should be a proportional size to the certified company’s logo.
Logo color
To ensure consistency across all communications, the B Corp logo may only be used in black or white. The logo should only appear over backgrounds that do not compromise legibility, such as solid colors or high-contrast images.
The only exception to this color rule is when a single-color printing process is required—a practice sometimes used in packaging. This exception is functional and not guided by aesthetic preferences.
The black or white B Corp logo can be added to a background color or image to suit your brand. To help integrate the B Corp logo into designs we provide a logo and URL badge with a custom color background. B Corps can customize the background color to match their brand palette. The logo and text must remain black or white. Please choose a background color that contrasts to meet accessibility standards.
Examples of single-color printed packaging with logo color exception. This type of printing involves one ink color on the package.
Incorrect logo usage
In order to build strong brand recognition for B Corp Certification and brand value for B Corps, it is paramount to use the B Corp logo consistently and correctly. Inconsistencies in the appearance of the logo will weaken its value, undermine trust, and may create risk for B Corps.
Here are some examples of incorrect usage of the B Corp logo:
Do not remove any of the elements of the logo
Do not use the logo without the ® symbol
This mark is reserved for use by B Lab, not B Corps
Do not have the holding line below the Corporation text
Do not change or alter the colors on individual elements of the logo
Do not recolor the logo, it should only be used in black or white
Do not rotate or angle the logo
Do not skew or distort the logo in any way
Do not use drop shadows, bevels, or graphic effects of any kind
Do not use the mark in outline mode or add a key line around it
Do not alter the size of any element
Do not alter the shape of any element
Do not remove the text or holding line
Do not use the logo as a replacement for the letter B in a word or sentence
Do not use or create horizontal versions of the B Corp logo
Do not use the logo without the URL for printed or physical materials
Old versions no longer in use
It is important to use the correct version of the B Corp logo to ensure compliance and build brand recognition. Do not use retired versions of the logo.
*The Pending B Corporation logo will no longer be able to be used after August 2026 in Europe’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition directive (ECGT) affected markets.
Taglines
We provide official taglines and messaging that can be used alongside the B Corp logo. View the Brand messaging library to see the choice of taglines.
The taglines can either be typeset next to the B Corp logo, you may use pre-made badges with the taglines locked up with the logo.
The application of the tagline badges must follow the same guidelines as stated in the Logo application section. The tagline and B Corp logo lockups or badges must direct to bcorp.com, via a hyperlink or text with a URL (“Learn more at bcorp.com”), which will allow the consumer to search for your brand in the B Corp directory and learn more about your certification.
Eligibility rules for IP usage
Only brands that are listed as in-scope in your application at the time of your certification are eligible to use the B Corp intellectual property (IP).
Illustrative examples and scoping rules
Specific use cases will be shared during the company’s certification process. This is a summary.
-
Companies must only use the IP on their own products, for which they control the design and formulation.
-
Companies that have global brands and affiliates, or related entities that are not certified, can only use the B Corp IP in a country or territory if the full range under the brand in that location is covered by a certification. They may need to use a distinct qualifier when referencing the B Corp certification to differentiate Certified B Corp company from the rest of the Group.
-
Co-branded products or services cannot use the B Corp IP if the other company involved in the co-branding is not certified.
Licensed brands cannot use the B Corp IP if the licensor/licensee is not certified.
-
Certified franchisors with full (100%) control over product design and formulation are permitted to use the B Corp IP on product packaging. These certified products may be distributed and sold across all retail locations, including those operated by non-certified franchisees.
Non-certified franchisees cannot use the B Corp IP.
A certified franchisor cannot use the B Corp IP on the front or inside their retail stores in countries where both company-owned and independently franchised stores operate, unless at least 90% of all retail stores in that country are covered by B Corp Certification.
-
If you are using the logo alongside a brand with a different name than the certified parent company, include text indicating this along with the logo (“[XYZ brand] is a part of [certified company name], a Certified B Corp™”).
A list of brands permitted to use the logo can be found in the scoping memo your company received during the assessment and verification process.
Do not use the logo alongside brands or communications about ineligible industries.

-
A company may not use the B Corp IP on brands that are directly involved in ineligible industries (B Lab Standards, Fair Work FR1.2).
For example, if the brand is associated with the gambling sector, such as a hotel that operates a casino.
Usage by non-B Corp entities
In general, non-certified entities are not permitted to use the B Corp logo or IP. Exceptions need permission from B Lab.
We may see mutual benefit in licensing our IP to others who can connect our core expertise with audiences, technologies, or platforms that go beyond what we’re able to do alone.
Some examples include:
Retailers promoting products from Certified B Corps or content to consumers or B2B buyers, such as “B Corp aisle” of a store.
Search or booking platforms displaying the B Corp logo alongside certified companies.
Academic purposes, such as course materials or textbooks.

There are key conditions that are considered in these cases:
The IP (logo and written terms e.g. “B Corp™”) should not be used in a way that will mislead audiences to believe the non-certified retailer or organization is a Certified B Corporation.
It must be clear that the B Corp Certification is a company-wide certification; there should not be mentions of B Corp Certified “products” or “brands.” “Products from Certified B Corps™” is a permitted alternative.
The B Corp logo should only be used alongside certified companies. If individual B Corps are showcased, retailers or organizations must have a method to verify and maintain accuracy on who is certified.
If you are a non-certified entity interested in using the IP in one of these circumstances, you will need to receive explicit permission from B Lab. To do so, please reach out to brand@bcorporation.net
