Logo application

Updated 2026

In this section, you will find the application guidelines for certified companies to follow when applying the B Corp logo to digital, print and physical, and video and moving image formats.

Requirements

B Corp Certification is a company certification, not a product one. When you display the B Corp logo on product packaging or other materials, you must make it clear to the consumer that it relates to your company.

A company certification icon

The B Corp logo must direct to bcorp.com, via a hyperlink or text with a URL (“Learn more at bcorp.com”), which will allow the consumer to search for your brand in the B Corp directory and learn more about your certification.

Website landing page icon

If you are a parent company that manages multiple brands, all brands that are part of the approved scope of your certification must be listed on your directory profile. Only these brands may use the logo. More information on how brands can use the B Corp IP can be found in the Eligibility rules for brand IP section.

You are responsible for how you use the B Corp logo, and for ensuring that you comply at all times with laws and requirements relating to sustainability statements. The following guidelines do not constitute legal advice, or an approval of each use of the B Corp logo.

Why add a URL?

Changing industry practice and legislation, including Europe’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition directive, requires sustainability labels such as the B Corp logo to be substantiated, and to clearly communicate their criteria and credentials to consumers.

We are achieving this through the inclusion of the URL with every use of the B Corp logo, directing consumers to our website where this information will be clearly displayed. Updates to the B Corp directory and homepage will be live by August 2026.

Learn more about the transition timeline here.

Illustrative examples

The way in which you use the logo and required URL will vary depending on the type of material. Please see the illustrative examples below for further information about how you can approach different use cases.

Digital usage (e.g., websites or digital communications)

Example of B Corp logo on a website footer
  • Hyperlink the B Corp logo to the company’s B Corp directory profile on bcorp.com, OR include text with the URL (“Learn more at bcorp.com”)

  • The B Corp logo should only be used if the digital layout is clearly branded with the certified company’s logo or name

To ensure legibility of the B Corp logo, we recommend a minimum size of 50 pixels high for web banners and email headers, and 72 pixels high for web pages.

Sizing and positioning

The B Corp logo should be a proportional size to the certified company’s logo.

Logo color

To ensure consistency across all communications, the B Corp logo may only be used in black or white. The logo should only appear over backgrounds that do not compromise legibility, such as solid colors or high-contrast images.

The only exception to this color rule is when a single-color printing process is required—a practice sometimes used in packaging. This exception is functional and not guided by aesthetic preferences.

The black or white B Corp logo can be added to a background color or image to suit your brand. To help integrate the B Corp logo into designs we provide a logo and URL badge with a custom color background. B Corps can customize the background color to match their brand palette. The logo and text must remain black or white. Please choose a background color that contrasts to meet accessibility standards.

Incorrect logo usage

Eligibility rules for IP usage

Only brands that are listed as in-scope in your application at the time of your certification are eligible to use the B Corp intellectual property (IP).

Illustrative examples and scoping rules

Specific use cases will be shared during the company’s certification process. This is a summary.

    • Companies must only use the IP on their own products, for which they control the design and formulation.

    • Companies that have global brands and affiliates, or related entities that are not certified, can only use the B Corp IP in a country or territory if the full range under the brand in that location is covered by a certification. They may need to use a distinct qualifier when referencing the B Corp certification to differentiate Certified B Corp company from the rest of the Group.

    • Co-branded products or services cannot use the B Corp IP if the other company involved in the co-branding is not certified.

    • Licensed brands cannot use the B Corp IP if the licensor/licensee is not certified.

    • Certified franchisors with full (100%) control over product design and formulation are permitted to use the B Corp IP on product packaging. These certified products may be distributed and sold across all retail locations, including those operated by non-certified franchisees.

    • Non-certified franchisees cannot use the B Corp IP.

    • A certified franchisor cannot use the B Corp IP on the front or inside their retail stores in countries where both company-owned and independently franchised stores operate, unless at least 90% of all retail stores in that country are covered by B Corp Certification.

    • If you are using the logo alongside a brand with a different name than the certified parent company, include text indicating this along with the logo (“[XYZ brand] is a part of [certified company name], a Certified B Corp™”).

    • A list of brands permitted to use the logo can be found in the scoping memo your company received during the assessment and verification process.

    • Do not use the logo alongside brands or communications about ineligible industries.

Visual example of a different-name brand. The example displays the B Corp logo with text showing the relationship between a brand and the certified parent company.

    • A company may not use the B Corp IP on brands that are directly involved in ineligible industries (B Lab Standards, Fair Work FR1.2).

      • For example, if the brand is associated with the gambling sector, such as a hotel that operates a casino.

Usage by non-B Corp entities

In general, non-certified entities are not permitted to use the B Corp logo or IP. Exceptions need permission from B Lab.

We may see mutual benefit in licensing our IP to others who can connect our core expertise with audiences, technologies, or platforms that go beyond what we’re able to do alone.

Some examples include:

  • Retailers promoting products from Certified B Corps or content to consumers or B2B buyers, such as “B Corp aisle” of a store.

  • Search or booking platforms displaying the B Corp logo alongside certified companies.

  • Academic purposes, such as course materials or textbooks.

There are key conditions that are considered in these cases:

  • The IP (logo and written terms e.g. “B Corp™”) should not be used in a way that will mislead audiences to believe the non-certified retailer or organization is a Certified B Corporation.

  • It must be clear that the B Corp Certification is a company-wide certification; there should not be mentions of B Corp Certified “products” or “brands.” “Products from Certified B Corps™” is a permitted alternative.

  • The B Corp logo should only be used alongside certified companies. If individual B Corps are showcased, retailers or organizations must have a method to verify and maintain accuracy on who is certified.

If you are a non-certified entity interested in using the IP in one of these circumstances, you will need to receive explicit permission from B Lab. To do so, please reach out to brand@bcorporation.net
